I woke up at 4a.m. on Jan. 30th and got ready to be induced! We got to the hospital about 6a.m. We had taken the kids to Brenna's house the night before which made the morning a lot less stressful. It was surreal driving to the hospital for the third time to be induced! It had snowed the night before so the roads were really slippery making me kinda nervous. We got checked into our room at UVRMC and started on pitocin. I started having contractions around 7a.m.. At 8a.m. I was dilated to a 4 and the dr. came in and broke my water. There was a big window my the bed with the curtain open so we could see the huge snowflakes that were falling. I wanted to wait until the contractions were painful enough that I wouldn't be nervous to get the epidural. The anesthesiologist had a scheduled Csection at 9:30 so I decided to hold out until 8:45. When it was finally the time I was going to do the epidural and they told me he had just gone into the csection early!! Well that freaked me our because these contractions were starting to get really painful, and with Brynne and Dane after my water was broken things went really fast! Thank goodness for Taylor, he is the best at keeping me calm when I start to freak out! They gave me some sort of narcotic to help with the pain until I could get the epidural. The anesthesiologist finally came in and I told him about how with Dane my epidural only worked on my right side. So I got the epidural and it was only working on my left side! I was so mad that this was happening again, especially because my dislocated rib was on my right side and I was banking on the epidural covering that pain. I was in a ton of pain, so they checked me and I had gone from a 5 to a 10 in a little over a half hour! They put some sort of narcotic in the epidural which made the pain a lot more manageable. The Dr. and nurse set up for the baby to come, and then said it was time to start pushing around 10:40. I pushed once or twice and Anndi was born at 10:44 a.m. It was all very strange to watch as they were cleaning up the baby and even holding her,(partly because of the narcotic) because it had all happened so fast, Taylor said he felt the same way! She looked great and was so tiny and sweet! 8lbs .6 oz and 20.5 inches long. (my smallest baby) She had some dark hair and a little mohawk at the top of her head. Brenna brought Brynne and Dane around 3 to meet the baby, they were a little nervous at first but it was such a sweet moment to see them so happy to hold her. Dane kept saying "hi baby, i'm your big brudder." It was really cute. Brynne was apprehensive that first time but has really warmed up to her now and loves to hold her and pick our her outfits. Andrea came to pick them up and they stayed the night with K and A that night. The day after Anndi was born my mom flew into town. She has been sooo helpful and I don't know what we would have done without her this past week. We are so grateful for this sweet baby and her safe entry into the world!
