A very "man" day!

My dad flew out this weekend to go to the BYU game (well to see us, and stop by the game he says.) Kenny also hung out with us all weekend because the dentist Andrea works for took her whole office to Hawaii for 10 days, so Kenny was without his GF:) Saturday was such a good day filled with man activities and man food! We woke up Saturday and had biscuits and gravy (gravy for breakfast is surely a man thing.) Then we went on a drive up the Mt. Nebo loop, which is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous, if you live anywhere close you should go. The colors were so pretty. Then we had sandwiches for lunch and headed to Provo, we stopped at Maceys and got ice cream. The one Taylor has in the picture is called the "Kong Kone" and it cost $1.29, quite the deal I think. Then we parked in our old apt complex because Taylor conned them into giving us a visitor pass, and walked to the stadium. It was a pretty fun game except Brynne was exhausted from having no nap, finally she fell asleep under our feet in the bleachers. We won a few t-shirts to! Then after the game we went home, had pizza, and watched a shoot-em-up spy movie. Thanks for coming out to visit Dad, we had a great time!!
p.s. I was looking at the picture of Taylor and I at the game and thought it was a good pic, until I realized the lady behind Taylors head has her fly down. Yikes! I wonder how many strangers pictures I'm in doing something completely awkward!

Great weekend minus the BYU loss!

We had a busy weekend, which was welcome after kind of a slow week! Sometimes on days I feel unaccomplished, I find myself looking at jobs on craigslist...then I find a job that looks great, and eventually I realize that I dont WANT to be away from my baby if we can manage it! Even though some days are full of lots of diapers and spit up and I stay in work out clothes the whole day, I realize I am way more happy with being a mom than I have ever been at any job!!

So anyways the weekend was great! On Thursday some friends came over for breakfast with their babies, then I took Brynne to story time at the library with her cousins, then I had lunch with Taylor, then I hung out with my brother, and there was a new hilarious Office on that night!

Friday Taylor got home early and we went to Salem Pond which is gorgeous, and we went to Tucanos for dinner because we had a half off birthday coupon. (Taylor told them it was my birthday and I had to play the tambourine in front of everyone, so embarrassing I was bright red, I'm not the type of person who wants to be center of attention like that!)

Then Saturday Brynne slept in till 10:00, so we got to sleep in a little to! That afternoon we went to the Utah state fair with Erica, Riley and the girls. There is something about eating $6 corn dogs at the fair :) Taylor rode a mechanical bull..he is a true city boy, but he was brave to try! I have a video I need to put up but for some reason its not letting me load..I"ll work on that.

Then sunday was the Primary program and we teach the 5-6 year olds. They were mostly good except Nathan kept taking his tie off and waving at the crowd with it and hitting himself in the head, and Cole kept shooting everyone in the audience with his bazooka (his arm pulled back in his jacket) But other than that..or maybe because of that it was a good, and entertaining program.

yummy recipe!

I got this recipe from http://twopeasandapot.blogspot.com. I made these for Taylor so he could grab them in the mornings on his way to school/work. He loved them despite his nervousness about all the "healthy stuff" in them. I also added choc. chips and coconut to them. :)

Breakfast Cookies
Two cookies and a glass of milk for an energy filled, quick breakfast!

2 c. old fashioned oats
1 ¼ cups whole wheat flour
1 c. all purpose flour
1 c. Grape-Nuts cereal
½ c. wheat germ
½ c. oat bran
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter, room temperature- I use 1/2 butter and 1/2 olive oil
1 c. peanut butter
2 lg. eggs
1 c. packed brown sugar
½ c. white sugar
1 T. vanilla
1 c. almonds, toasted and coarsely chopped
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped pitted dates

Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl to blend. Using electric mixer in another bowl, beat butter and peanut butter until creamy. Add eggs, both sugars and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add cereal mixture; stir until blended. Mix in almonds, raisins, and dates.

Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Using 2 ounce ice cream scoop or ¼ c. measuring cup, scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing mounds 2 inches apart. Using the bottom of a glass, press cookies to ½ inch-thick rounds.

Bake cookies at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Let cool on sheets for about 10 minutes before removing.

AND I wanted to have a post on 09.09.09 cause its cool...I wonder how many people purposely planned their wedding day for today because of the date?? We knew a few people who got married on 08.08.08.

Byron WY, 7 months, 26

My mom flew out last Saturday, and we left Taylor home to go to his first week of school and we left for Byron Wy where my mom grew up. Byron has about 550 people, it is one of a kind, it smells like rotten eggs because of the oil being pumped near by! It has one gas pump...no store attached, a post office, and a bar. But I always love going and hearing about all of my moms and her siblings crazy adventures growing up there! We went to help my grandparents finish a room. So my mom and aunt Lorraine spent some 10-11 hour days painting, etc. Brynne and I just did random things. Brynne did so well in the car, I was suprised. As long as I kept the snacks coming, and either my mom or I was sitting in the back with her to entertain her, she was fine. She also mastered pickaboo on the drive. Brynne got her first Tooth on the drive up..or at least thats when I noticed it, that day also happened to be exactly 7 months for her!

While I was there I was looking through my grandpa's old year book, class of '48. It was so fun, I found out that he was on the football team, started on the state championship basketball team, was valedictorian, class president, and was in a play his senior year!! Wow. Also they had some hand written advertisements in the back of the year book that I thought were so hilarious after taking a few advertisement classes in college.

I had to take a picture of the stairs in my grandparents house because growing up this was the best part about going to Byron. The stairs are really wide across but each stair is not very deep or far apart, this makes them perfect for stair sledding. We would get in sleeping bags and slide and race down the stairs. How many injuries occurred I don't know!

We drove home on my birthday and when we got home Taylor had made my favorite meal (Navajo Taco's) then he took me to Sundance and they had a full moon lift ride where we got to ride the ski lift up and down the mountain, it was gorgeous. Then we came home and had cake. Taylor caught a Hobo spider last week and him and Kenny brought it into the house to "classify" it. Annnnd I absolutely hate/despise/am freaked out by any spider, but this one was particularly nasty!! So eventually I couldn't take it any more and dumped bleach on it. So because of this event, Taylor made this creatively creepy cake!! Then today my mom took me shopping and I feel so spoiled with new clothes. Then we went to Famous Daves with Erica, Riley and the girls. It was a amazing 26th bday!
